The Regional Network for Peace
Building a regional platform for peace.
Following another round of violence between Hamas and Israel, AJEEC–NISPED asked me to help tackle a difficult challenge: how to revive public and political discussion around the Arab Peace Initiative, a framework the Israeli government had never recognised and the Arab League had not reaffirmed for seven years.
To help bring the initiative back into the conversation, we built a network of organisations in Israel, Palestine, and several other Arab countries, each tasked with promoting it in their own country. We called it The Regional Network.
The campaign was run from our office in Tel Aviv and included branding, a website and social media presence, and a manifesto that was distributed to more than 250,000 Israeli households. We also recruited high-profile supporters, published an open letter backing John Kerry’s peace efforts, launched a short film competition called One Minute to Peace, and arranged meetings between MPs from Israel and Arab countries in Prague.
The campaign helped return the Arab Peace Initiative to the Israeli news agenda, generated international exposure, and was followed by the Arab League’s reaffirmation of the initiative at its 2017 summit.
